Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar
Iyengar (Guruji) is pictured here with his only son, Prashant
(far left), and his eldest daughter, Geeta. Guruji founded the
Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune, Maharashti,
India, in 1975 in honor of his wife, Smt. Ramamani Iyengar.
Guruji, Prashant and Geeta reside and teach at the institute,
in addition to conducting yoga classes worldwide.
teachings were first published in 1966 as Light on Yoga. His
style of teaching, emphasizing precision and alignment with
the use of props, has long been referred to as "Iyengar
Yoga." Geeta has helped many women in her teaching of the
asanas. Yoga students come from all over the world to study
at RIMYI with the Iyengar family.

has been a devoted student of Iyengar Yoga since 1983. His passion
for Iyengar yoga stems from the emphasis on alignment, enhancing
the asanas and a deepening of his understanding of the body
and mind. Tom has made several trips to Pune, India to study
with the Iyengar family. He currently holds certification in
Iyengar yoga from the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco.
resides in Paradise, California. He teaches classes in Chico,
Paradise & Sacramento, offers private sessions, conducts
a variety of workshops and partners with Debbe Gagne on international
retreats. Tom also builds custom yoga walls and props.
